I too was dare I say, close to tears at some points of the Ocean Rain section!! The gig was a little short, but better that than Mac's voice being whacked before the main set. I would have loved to hear a more interesting first set as I don't thing Dancing Horses, Stormy Weather and a few others are that good live now, or if they ever were, in my personal opinion. NLF was pretty dreadful but once again the sound was partially to blame - The keyboard was way too loud in the mix. What was the guitarist [Geordie, Ged, not sure of his name]up to? Thrusting his pelvis at the audience, did he think he was playing in the Stray Cats?! I think there were a few teething troubles with light and sound [Mac had to keep telling the light man ''it's supposed to be dark now, the opposite of light'' during 'Thorn of Crowns' and there were no spots on Will when playing solos, I need to see that red Vox Teardrop guitar during Killing Moon! I can understand why people in 'the gods' complained as the rig really wasn't powerful enough to carry the sound in a venue of that size. The screens were a good idea during the intermission but I think they detracted from the live show and gave off a lot of light which was not needed. The audience - I was beginning to think I'd strayed into some corporate finance function - loads of suited city types sat reading the f***ing times and just talking through the whole set - why where they there? Many did not even clap once. The guy next to me sat staaring at the back wall of the venue until Seven Seas at which he sang along very quitely and then reverted to staring at the back wall!!! On the whole, a great night and as always, great to see Red, Shaz, and all the rest, plus had the pleasure of meeting Tijn but still I haven't met KPJ!! Steve G. p.s. Not sure about that new song at all! ----- Original Message ----- From: KPJ To: seven-seas@smoe.org Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2008 11:36 PM Subject: Re: seven-seas RAH Fukking hell I needed that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Sep 2008 08:47:31 +0000 From: Peter Tebbutt Subject: RE: seven-seas RAH the sound bloke - always wears a hat (trilby), no relation to the kray's mate (dont actually know that, just a guess)> From: steve.griffiths@wootton.org.uk> To: seven-seas@smoe.org> Subject: Re: seven-seas RAH> Date: Thu, 18 Sep 2008 10:02:08 +0200> > who is mister hat????> ----- Original Message -----> From: Rafael Guimaraes> To: seven-seas@smoe.org> Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2008 9:46 AM> Subject: Re: seven-seas RAH> > > probably mr. hats fault !> > On Sep 18, 2008, at 4:24 AM, Steve & Holly | Exiles in Andalucia wrote:> > > That and the sound crew never turn off the echo/reverb effects in> > between> > songs.> >> > Steve G.> > > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> **************Bunnymen Online Presence********************> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info> http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/> http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/> http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> *> > _________________________________________________________________ Make a mini you and download it into Windows Live Messenger http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/111354029/direct/01/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Sep 2008 10:52:46 +0200 From: "Steve & Holly | Exiles in Andalucia" Subject: seven-seas RAH meet Pity the pub was closed after the gig, but we did drink the taps dry! Holly and I went in the pub the next day for lunch and the bar staff said they would have stayed open as they had bottled beer but suffered quite a lot of abuse from drunken gig goers [before and after the gig] that hey decided to close up. Not sure where the rest of you ended up but we unfortunately suffered a disgusting pint of generic ale in a generic pub on Gloucester Road [possibly the Gloucester Arms]. Steve G. p.s. Thanks, Red, for suggesting the Queens Arms, Holly and I were there every day of our visit! Great pub. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Sep 2008 11:15:20 +0200 From: "Steve & Holly | Exiles in Andalucia" Subject: Re: seven-seas RAH ah! thanks! ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter Tebbutt To: seven-seas@smoe.org Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:47 AM Subject: RE: seven-seas RAH the sound bloke - always wears a hat (trilby), no relation to the kray's mate ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V6 #406 ********************************
