Both are playing in Chicago. I had heard that MBV plays really loud (and did when they came to Chi-town in the early 90s), so I'll be bringing cotton for my ears. Hopefully, it's not so loud that it won't be enjoyable. Anyone who has seen either band of late, what did you think? Much the same as the records, you can't really hear the vocals very well. The sound got louder as the gig went on until the really long last track were it did become unbearable to me (and I like loud gigs). They were giving out free ear plugs but it might be safe to take some along. I was as much impressed with the venue as the gig itself and I'm sure I'll be going back there again. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Dawn Wolfe Sent: 21 July 2008 14:08 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: seven-seas My Bloody Valentine/James I'm going to see My Bloody Valentine in September and two days later, James. Suggest you ask the chemist for some quality ear plugs! [you can get plugs that filter dangerous sound levels but do not muffle the sound - believe it or not, some club d.j.s use them! It was the first date of the tour, but a warm up so not on the tour schedule (I think). Was really blown away by them and even the new material stands up well. Only caught them once before at a V97 (or 98? not sure) and they only did a tiny set so good to catch them playing stuff other than hits. Also no evidence of Sit Down in their set which was a good call...
