From a thread a while back TT - -----Original Message----- From: Ted Turner [mailto:uwsaads@uwinnipeg.ca] Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2007 05:45 PM To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: RE: TT general rant - again Its a hard thing for management to balance I'm sure - getting paid is good/taking gigs - but you dont want to ever climb down the ladder - i mean you have to be realistic - their market has changed & you have to do the right things to connect with it organically as it stands & toward the directions it is moving - if this Blondie thing is more like a festival show ( in a castle as it is) then there is no real damage done - ie they open for loads of flavor of the month/year bands that will amount to less than a footnote in the history of what matters in the end and have influenced nothing meaningful or beautiful - thats ok - smile & get paid - but I'd hate to see them start to open for bands within their own generational scope of historic oeuvre and influence - that would diminish both their actual( cash in hand now) and perceived historical) stock. I would recommend more structured touring of North America & Europe - Asia & South America - do one proper tour every 2 years - hit all the major cities in both continents - 750-1500 seaters depending on the markets ( what size are the venues that doing in the UK now?) - a schedule like that will work for them - Mac should also quit smoking & treat his voice like the delicate and wonderful instrument that it is -as it stands , he's like a concert pianist smashing his fingers with a hammer - he has a true gift - probably the best singer of his generation of definitely the best band , at least switch to lights and drink some carrot juice now & then, give the magic a chance to renew itself/survive. TT Hey guys I have sat and read everything you guys have spoke of about the Bunnymen over the years and not said anything about your comments, but I feel that now I should say someting. I think that if anyone should be supporting anyone,it should be Debbie Harry and her cronies that are supporting the Bunnymen. I aint slating manaement or anything, but why should the Bunnymen support a band that is decidedly average? This is just my own opinions and I eagerly await your opinions.... As for management, isn't it peasy and that other bloke, aren't they Macs mates? I dont think they've had management with any influence other than 'yes guv' as such since the eighties have they? And meanwhile back in the real world if blondie who have only sold about 30 million - shall we call them units - were the support then about 75% of the audience would leave at the interval. SO maybe its a gig they wanted to do and this is the only common sense option. ALthough if mac throws a wobbly halfway through Rescue and stomps off, maybe I'll be proved wrong.
