The other point worth mentioning is playback device. It doesn't matter how good the input is if you're using sub standard speakers/phones etc. Any increase in quality could be negated. In fact if you're only talking about sound quality on a personal mp3 player, I'd go as far to suggest that the quality of the headphones is more important than the player to a big degree. Otherwise, you are already making compromises so the whole thing is a non-issue?? Work out 'ripping' the music from your CDs. Should be able to do it using Windows Media Player - its what I'm using at the moment. Make sure you are happy with that side and you know where the songs are going on your hard disk. I would go for 128kbps and make sure that the songs are being 'labelled' via a CDDB correctly (when you put the CD into your PC, the software will connect to an online database and try and match the CD so that you don't have to type all the artist, song titles etc). 2. Work out copying the music you have just ripped onto your player. I think that you might be able to do this with Windows Media Player too. That way you don't need to worry about downloading the right software. It's not the best bit of software but it should get you up and running. 3. Work out which type of headphone is best for your ears. This has taken me an age and lots of testing and trying different types. I would agree with what's been said before in that these can make the real difference. I'm about to try the following, used by some musicians on stage! http://www.headphoneworld.com/product_details.php?item_id=264&category_name= Shure&category_id=154&group_name=headphones Right back to work - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of looloo Sent: 17 April 2007 17:49 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: RE: seven-seas mp3 playa mmm.. that made me think ..
