I'm glad that I'm the age I am .. cos - at the risk of sounding old - I got to grow up listening to some brilliant music and went to see loads of brilliant gigs that I might of missed out on if I was a bit younger :-) looloo - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Sheldon Cooper Sent: 11 April 2007 17:54 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: RE: seven-seas yay Over here in the States an evil empire called Clear Channel has evolved, buying up tons of radio stations & deluging us with a homogenous boring sound. So most folks listen to classic rock stations to hear music that isn't all the same sound. Even a lot of younger folks are tuning into these stations so all of a sudden Floyd, Zep, etc are getting rediscovered. And those of us old enough to remember when the cool song being used in a tv ad was new (e.g. The The's This Is The Day) would much rather be listening to an Echo or DM remaster that the new 3rd Eye Blind or Train or whoever. Also we'd rather see the Police in concert than 20 soundalikes at some festival type tour. Besides 84 was a fantastic year! Sheldon showing his age again...
