Hardly the most rock'n'roll festival, Ben and Jerry's Sundae is about embracing the summer by lickin on a deep-filled waffle cone, not by watching a sombre Ian McCulloch light up a fag whilst wharbling around on stage like it's 1982. Cheer up fellas, there are kids in the audience. Echo and the Bunnymen are not the greatest act in the world, so why they prance around as though they are beggars belief. - -------------------------------------------- My mailbox is spam-free with ChoiceMail, the leader in personal and corporate anti-spam solutions. Great GREAT news about Parr Street, incidentally! On Parr with the greats Aug 8 2006 By Kate Mansey, Liverpool Echo Recording inside the Parr Street studio http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_objectid=17528316&method=full&siteid=50061&headline=on-parr-with-the-greats-name_page.html A STAR line-up is already booked for the new-look Parr Street after the famous studios were saved from demolition. Lipa graduate and chart star Sandi Thom will be recording there this month and chart-topper Paolo Nutini used it for his debut album These Streets. Liverpool band Echo and The Bunnymen will begin recording their next album at Parr Street in September while fellow Merseysiders The Zutons and The Coral have also confirmed they will be returning. Even Royle Family star Ricky Tomlinson has signed up to record some banjo tracks there. The news comes just over a week since the country's largest recording studio outside London was rescued from property developers by a last-minute deal. Gary Millar, chief executive of Parr Street Studios Ltd, said: "This is brilliant news for the studio and we've only had the keys for a week. "There are lots of big names signed up to use the studio and we're sure they'll keep coming back. "We want to create a big complex that's a hub for the creative industries in Liverpool and make it a centre where people will come to re-cord, work, eat and relax. "We also want to encourage more local bands to use the studio and to make it a real part of the community." Managers also revealed plans were underway for a major revamp of the building including an extension to include new offices and sprucing up the studio hotel used by bands to open it to the public. Pete Byrne and Ian "Peasy" Gordon are the new managing directors of the studios. Mr Byrne said: "We're very excited about creating a new complex for Parr Street. "One of the concerns was thatthe studios were losing money, but we don't see how that can be the case. "We've already booked up studio time to the point thatwe're unfortunately having to turn work away. "Plans would also be looking at the hotel which would make bands and musicians feel that they're in a home from-home." - -------------------------------------------- My mailbox is spam-free with ChoiceMail, the leader in personal and corporate anti-spam solutions.
