I decided to skip this one - despite the great new album. I'm just not going to fight the parking and other problems of Allston anymore. :-( Best, Tony Anthony Schinella CEO/PD/A&E, WKXL 1450, Concord, NH Online @ http://www.wkxl1450.com Blog @ http://politizine.blogspot.com WKXL: Winner of 6 N.H. Caught the Boston show last night and really enjoyed some casual chatter with legendary Seaser's Chris and Frank. Ian appeared to be in a bit of an off mood, but it didn't hurt the performance one bit. Like many here, I have followed them for 25 years and seen them numerous times, before and after transitions and I honestly thought this was as good as any show I've ever gotten from them. I dare say it may have even been my favorite, but I'll have to come down off the high and evaluate it objectively at a later date. One thing is apparent though, missing an opportunity to catch them on a tour swing these days should be considered a mortal Bunnysin these days, because they really do have the magic at full throttle. We had a unique perspective looking down from the top near the light man and the sound was fantastic up there. At one point, they started rescue and Ian stopped the song, because he didn't like the way it got off and they went into Over the Wall. It seemed like he might have been a bit ticked with the keyboard player (though I could be wrong). I don't know the translation for putting one's finger insisde their cheek and and popping it out (sucks?), but he made a point of doing that in his direction a couple of times. Honestly, I thought it all sounded fine though and Ian and Will were both in great form. The detour into Roadhouse Blues was transcendent and had me doing my best Morrison at the top of my lungs...damn, they've got that one nailed. After the show, Will signed a few things and my friends and I got brutally drunk. We stepped outside and caught Mac walking to the tour bus, he didn't look like he was in a mood to be bothered, but in 25 years, I've never said a word to the man, so I wasn't going to pass it up. I shook his hand on the move and said, "Ian, Great show. Thank you" and he very cordially thanked me and said he was glad we enjoyed it, as we continued in our opposite directions. Simple stuff for sure, but a meaningful exchange to a fan, from a man who probably wasn't feeling in the mood to be gracious, but was gracious nonetheless. The show was a sellout, but most of the crowd was lame. Just because we're getting older doesn't mean we can't expend the energy to express proper appreciation after a great song. From seeing the setlist, it was apparent the lame response cost us a second encore. I did my best, but one a few spotty voices weren't enough to sway them back. Boy Kills Boy was good enough to make me look forward to buying their upcoming CD. I've talked enough...back into my bunnyhole, I shall go. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V5 #177 ********************************
