Very nice fella and fine bassist. Metal Box, what an album and best presentation of an LP too! - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of chris adams Sent: 16 June 2006 04:34 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: seven-seas Rip It Up and Start Again For those of you who recall the halcyon days of the original underground post-punk era (as opposed to the "not quite, but C for effort anyway of Franz Ferdinand and the other "I got a Gang of 4 track on my iPod" hopefuls), check out "Rip It Up and Start Again" by Simon Reynolds, and excellent extrapolation on the UK/US music scenes that rose, phoenix-ically, from the fallow ashes of punk. One of the best rock books I've ever read; it inspired me to listen to two of the most definitive albums of that era, Pil's "Metal Box" and The Falls "Hex Induction Hour"--two killer albums that'd have the current zippy-haircut and skinny-tie boys crapping with a hyper-forced, herky-jerkoff angularity down their tight y-fronts if they actually ever bothered to listen to them.) (Which, perhaps they have, as suggested by the consistency--and stench--of their muzak.) - --Chris A. Tired of spam? Yahoo!
