Where they mixing desk recordings or cruder ones? All I can say is I went to the Shepherds Bush gig, more to meet the people than for the gig and was very very impressed. The overall sound of the band is as if they are playing like a group again, not Will/Mac and some hired hands. The setlist was excellent and the new songs, esp Scisssors, refreshing. I have quite a few live recordings from many bands but don't tend to listen to recorded live, except for Joy Division for some reason. Generally don't tend to like them. I hope for Matt's sake that they do play near Bristol sometime and do a decent show. Hearing the Paradiso show just completely deflated me because I realized that this is not an anomaly. I really did enjoy Siberia but these live shows... I dunno anymore. I even hate writing this but it's been bugging me for a while now. The Paradiso was professionally recorded and so was the festival show. I have not heard any crude fan recordings at all. Maybe they are just inconsistent on this tour and I just heard the bad ones but I just can't see how anyone could listen to that Paradiso gig recording and think that Mac sounded good overall.
