Also heard there are more cropping up in NY now. I visited one in NYC a short while back and it was horrible. It was in Soho and was supposed to be one of the better ones according to the reviews I read online. I did eat at a different one in Soho about 2 years ago maybe and it wasn't too bad. Much better atmosphere, closer to the ones in London, but still can't compare to any of the ones I've been to in the UK when it comes to the actual food. They tell you about all these great deals and discounts outside to lure you in, and then you have to argue with them to get them to follow through! LOL Stoke Newington has some GREAT Indian restaurants! Just wish I could find some good ones in this area. HA! Went to a new one once that opened up about 40 mins away (closest one to me) in a college town, and they actually served me TURKEY when I ordered Chicken Korma!!! Didn't rate the curry places there. They are bobbins compared to what you can get in Manchester or Bradford. If in Manchester, avoid the 'Curry Mile' and try some of the places off the beaten track like 'Cafe Mahraba' in Back Piccadilly. They do nehari, fish curries and are even open on Sundays. Never really thought central London any good for 'ruby' houses though some good ones in Euston. Better places are Commercial Road/Brick Lane and of course Southall, which is where I go. If any of you ever get the chance check out The Glassy Junction, Indian pub run by Sikhs with lots of cheesy Indian dicor. Indian beer on draft though. I can also recommend several great eating places in Southall. - --------------------------------- Yahoo! I'll certainly give that place a try when I'm next in Manc, hard to find a place that does fish well. But then almost all restaurants are crap compared to my mum's cooking. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of nial bradburn Sent: 10 November 2005 12:42 To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: seven-seas o/t ruby murrey I was in Southall last week on my to Guys Hospital.
