I am pretty sure that Peter said that this performance will be included on a DVD along with Shine So Hard. No other details were given. The US shows were filmed by Factory Features and they have been promising for ages to release things by the Bunnymen. It was not Factory Features that filmed the recent performance. The funniest bloke at the moment is Dylan Moran & I love the "Black books" series on Channel 4. "bedazzled is my favourite comedy which I bought recently on DVD the Peter cooke & Dudley Moore version (I haven't seen the modern one). Good look with your teaching practice - I did Kirkby & Wigan. Just keep going, listen to other teachers, make it entertaining & have a sense of humour! It was ok but the fly algaric distorted it a bit for me so I couldn't see the humour . For me, the funniest things I have ever seen are the Paul Hogan show from the early 80's, Eddie Murphy 'Raw', Sptiiting Image and Honour Blackman doing stand-up. I would donate a kidney if someone had the Hogan series on DVD. > > As for Teaching, I hope to start mt teacher training next year. Music Seeing as other Eighties artists like Depeche Mode, Kate Bush and U2 are still around making music, it comes as no surprise that the reincarnated Echo & the Bunnymen (reformed in 1997 after a 10 year hiatus) are back. But despite the presence of other popular Reagan-era bands in record shops and concert stages, guitarist-songwriter Will Sergeant thinks the Bunnymen are well equipped to handle today's music game. "We're more comfortable now because we're not trying to be the next anything," he says over the phone from his home outside Liverpool. "We're just going along doing what we do. We haven't got the same pressure that we used to have when people were trying to make us into something we didn't want to be. So that's kind of good." After turning the music world on its head with UK chart-toppers like "Heaven Up Here," "Porcupine," and 1999's "What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?" and having been cited as an influence by British music behemoths Coldplay (the band covered Echo's "Lips Like Sugar" on their 2003 tour), Sergeant says the band didn't feel they had anything to prove when they set about writing and recording their tenth studio album, "Siberia." "We only wanted to make a good record," he says. "It's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with trying to be innovative. We just do what we do." And while no one will fault Sergeant for bragging, the guitarist modestly says the new record (which has garnered some of the band's best reviews) ranks up there with the Bunnymen's earlier efforts. "We tried to get the bass and drums down and then layer it with guitars, keyboards, rhythm guitars and vocals," he says. "The recording pretty much followed the pattern we set out with all our earlier albums." That included recruiting producer Hugh Jones, who worked on the group's 1981 sophomore release, "Heaven Up Here." "Hugh's a complete genius," he says. "He's good at steering you in the right way." ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://www.villiersterrace.com * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V4 #530 ********************************
