I really don't care for "Gangsta rap" like Ice Cube & Ice Tea. I much prefer rap with something to say like "arrested development". There are people from the black community with something to say like "Benjamin Zephaniah" the poet from Birmingham. I actually went to an Ice Cube concert at Bradford University I believe there is also racism in that community. But there is very little rap music I actually like. Perhaps someone could suggest something to listen to that would change my wind. I do have some rap from my younger days like a "Dream warriors" 12" "My definition of a boombastic jazz style". I know pidgeon wholing genres is a little bit old fashioned but there is a definite style of "Gangsta rap" I dislike. At least Public Enemy were talented. all the best Jonathan Sweeney. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://www.villiersterrace.com * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Nov 2005 20:26:09 -0000 From: "Steve Griffiths" Subject: Re: seven-seas rap music Sorry mate but you're off on a tangent that I have no knowledge or interest in! In my opinion hip-hop died well before 1990 and I hate Ice Cube, et all. I think maybe you're taking my comments about 'dance music' a little too far now! Lets move on. I quite like hearing what soughts of music people like & yes I do go off on a tangent. People on the Bunnymen web site do tend to have a really good taste in music. Jon. Ps I prefer ambient works which is early aphex Twin. Every type of music you can dance to from "The Stairs" to "Curtis Mayfield" & "The Beatles". PPs I miss Liverpool, Manchester & Chester a bit. Alot of fun times can be had in the North West. I was disappointed when the Irish centre was shut down in Liverpool & I loved the old cassablancas. When I last went to Manchester I stuck to Chorlton at night some cool bars - playing Stone Roses & some cool tracks. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Griffiths" To: Sent: Tuesday, November 01, 2005 8:26 PM Subject: Re: seven-seas rap music > Sorry mate but you're off on a tangent that I have no knowledge or interest > in! > > In my opinion hip-hop died well before 1990 and I hate Ice Cube, et all. > > I think maybe you're taking my comments about 'dance music' a little too far > now! > > Lets move on. > > Steve G. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "jswee" > To: > Sent: Tuesday, November 01, 2005 8:17 PM > Subject: seven-seas rap music > > > > Hi, > > > > If you like discussion especially Steve.
