Sorry, but a pet hate of mine is how people think 'dance music' started in about 1989! Calling any music 'dance music' is so lame anyhow, but people have danced to 'dance music' since the dawn of time. Not being picky mate, but t.g.u. are just a bunch of crusty hippie fakers, and aphex and the dog are, most of the time, pointless art-w*nkers [and you'd need 3 legs to dance to almost anything by aphex after 1995!]. Hi, That's your point of view & why people are different ! I loved listening to the orb (the beyond the Ultraworld video) & orbital round people's flats it was great to watch the sun come up in the morning. But I can't say I would listen to a lot of crappy "Happy Hardcore" like scooter in my own home after a day at work. I'd much prefer to switch on the Boo Radleys, Echo & the Bunnymen, the Devlins etc.. something with a bit of soul or "concrete jungle" (Bob Marley). I like Ambient works by the Aphex twin & if you get a sampling program you can lift great drum beats like Acid SF. I do think a bunch of ravers talking about what e's they've taken boring & how good they are, or where they scored from. I'm afraid I am a bit of an arty wanker ! but if I see a piece of art & what it's like I say it bluntly. I like discussion & disagreement ! I love poetry, art, films & to me thats great. All the best Jonathan P. I really don't care for "Gangsta rap" like Ice Cube & Ice Tea. I much prefer rap with something to say like "arrested development". There are people from the black community with something to say like "Benjamin Zephaniah" the poet from Birmingham. I actually went to an Ice Cube concert at Bradford University I believe there is also racism in that community. But there is very little rap music I actually like. Perhaps someone could suggest something to listen to that would change my wind. I do have some rap from my younger days like a "Dream warriors" 12" "My definition of a boombastic jazz style". I know pidgeon wholing genres is a little bit old fashioned but there is a definite style of "Gangsta rap" I dislike. At least Public Enemy were talented. all the best Jonathan Sweeney. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://www.villiersterrace.com * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V4 #513 ********************************
