Really?? Regardless of the reasons, Mac's voice is noticably different than it was even in 99. I don't mean to say it is terrible or anything but it certainly does not have the range or play of yesteryear and has lost some of it's uniqueness that drew me to them to begin with. I guess you just grow used to it over time. Lou Reed once wrote, anyone who ever had a heart wouldnt turn around and break it, and any one who ever played a part, wouldnt turn around and hate it. But Lou, doe-eyed when he wrote that tune, knows better. Weve all broken hearts despite ourselves; weve all played parts that weve loathed (or at least ad-libbed inappropriate lines). And, as the clichi goes life is not a dress rehearsal once its out there, theres no turning back. The fields been levelled, and the act has to be played through. All Because of You Days recognizes this. The song builds on the tense steady thud of a kick drum, reveals its regrets and rationale in slowly climbing increments, and releases a catharctic sorrow in an unforgettable chorus that is simultaneously tearful exorcism, graceful bow-out, and, against all odds, hope. And, despite the heaviness that all that implies, its easily one of the catchiest, most radio-friendly songs the Bunnymen have ever written top ten with a broken-hearted bullet.
