The 90s produced some of their best B sides, with Watchtower, The Fish Hook Girl, Holy Grail and Land Of The Dying Sun (yeah, okay, the latter two are not strictly speaking Bunnymen B sides) being as good as anything that had gone before, in my opinion. It all died with The Fish Hook Girl. One single off of Flowers had a couple of new, non-album tracks, but they were hardly anything to write home about. One of them was even called Scratch The Past. Maybe that's what they're trying to do..... Oh, and Siberia? I prefer to think of it as What Have You Gone And Done With Your Voice.... Yes, Evergreen had excellent b-sides I have to agree with the voice comment, but I like the album nonetheless. Even from Evergreen to Siberia you can hear a huge difference in Mac's voice , he has almost no upper range anymore. Recently I loaded up all the Bunnymen albums on my ipod to listen to them chronologically. Mac's voice used to really bellow and soar. That was even present in Evergreen. Now he just sings the lines in that lower range. On 9/30/05, Matt wrote: > > In the 80s, we had _*all*_ those classic B-sides > > It wasn't just the 80s, either. Yeah, you're right Matt. You can add in those Mac b-sides that have been mentioned recently too. Later stuff ? Well, I never really rated "Fish Hook Girl" - a decent b-side, sure, but not all that. Similarly, the NLF b-sides were good but not classics. I don't know why "Hurricaine" made it on to Crystal Days - seemed to be a forced effort to getting a latter day b-side on the boxset. I liked "Marble Towers" and "The Promise" re-heat (wish that really had turned into a series of more than 1) ; I'd probably say those may have been the best b-sides since they officially reformed. - -- Barry ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://www.villiersterrace.com * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V4 #450 ********************************
