Typical, let's exploit the bands old catalog now that they have a new release trick. Obviously had the crack research department putting it together for a product sure to please their long time fans and to welcome the newcomers. In typical big-label fashion, they'll do whatever they can to reap profits on someone else's efforts/dollar with minimal overhead and investment. (They probably didn't use a photo of the band because they'd have to pay Corbijn or whomever, so they just dug up some "evocative" public domain photo.) Sounds like a project some account manager gave to his intern ("I want a Bunnymen comp by the time I get back from lunch!"). They print up a small amount, intended to ride out the Siberia press coverage and tour, turn a slight profit, and then just forget about it. It's arbitrary, crass, and thoughtless--business as usual for an industry with more wankers than a porn convention at a sex offender psych ward.
