I just bought the album yesterday at lunch (US release date), played the whole thing between lunch and going home. Sounded good. Got home, altered my head space as best I could on a Tuesday. Put the disc in my 6-channel surround sound system. Upped the sub-woofer a tad. Listened to the entire album straight through twice. Loved it and on the second listen was enthralled. I anticipating loving it more with every listen. Who is calling "What if We Are?" a ballad? Maybe on the single version, but come on. I won't give a review, but yes there are obvious rockers and stellar moments, but no duds whatsoever. Suggestion, listen closer, link the lyrics to the sound, feel what it's about. Not an arrogant commandment, just a comment for those who are dissapointed in the album. Reason - Have played 'In The Margins' and 'Scissors..' about 700 times this week! I still can't listen to the rest of the album tho'. IMHO - 'In The Margins' should be a single - it's got ANTHEM written through it and could easily beat Travis/Coldplay/Oasis in the Emo Anthem stakes. Yeah completely agree, Steve...it's a no-brainer for the 2nd single. In fact, I think they should have led the album with it instead of "Stormy Weather" -- it's great song and has instant appeal. Ideal for ze radio...
