But letbs not get all depressed, because this is a decent album. And itbs their tenth studio release, so the old boys are onto something. Hugh Jones adds his magic touch to the production, last working with the Bunnymen way back in 1981 on their second album Heaven Up Here. Stormy Weather is a cracking opener, setting the tone for the rest b itbs dark and brooding. And In the Margins shows a whole new generation (thatbs you) the old passion and confidence that was born in 1978 when the bunnies got together. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://www.villiersterrace.com * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 12:26:44 +1200 From: "Kristin Smith" Subject: seven-seas thisislondon.co.uk thisislondon.co.uk (Evening Standard): Echo And The Bunnymen: Siberia **** Siberia is Echo And The Bunnymen's best post-reformation album, so steeped in the qualities of their 1980s prime that it could almost be the bonus CD of an Ocean Rain special edition. Yet, that does Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant a disservice. If the interweaving riffs of Parthenon Drive and Of A Life flirt with over-familiarity, the brooding Scissors In The Sand and the plangent grandeur of Everything Kills You suggests maturity holds as much sway as early glories. Age and cigarettes, meanwhile, continue to work magic on McCulloch's voice, which is slowly evolving into a pleasingly cracked croon. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://www.villiersterrace.com * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V4 #413 ********************************
