How come you're converting VHS to mini-DV first? I always grab videos straight to AVI or Mpeg and then create DVD disc using 'Ulead' software. Steve G. p.s. I have made DVD's of 'Shine So Hard' and others but the main problem is the sound quality - VHS is often hissy and if tape is old, a little 'muffled'. I even tried over-dubbing the audio from the CD copies of 'Shine So Hard' tracks but due to tape stretch, etc, they never sync too good. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * http://www.neonhalos.blogspot.com ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 10:41:44 -0400 From: Frank Coleman Subject: Re: seven-seas Bunnymen dvd ''Convert all video content to mini-DV'' Yo: >How come you're converting VHS to mini-DV first? > >I always grab videos straight to AVI or Mpeg and then create DVD disc using >'Ulead' software. > > Haven't tried Ulead. I go the dv route to allow capture via firewire as opposed to USB. All my gear is firewire-based (Mac). >p.s. There are many tools available for the job. Gut feeling is to stay stupid, but the inner-geek makes me more determined to attempt something on a small scale very soon... I know what you're saying about the audio sync stuff as well.. I already have software to convert from dvd vob files down to vcd back before I owned a dvd burner, so I'm guessing that some of the theory is similar, but in reverse. I think my main stumbling block is going to be connecting from vcr to pc. I keep seeing inexpensive capture cards etc but the resolution usually seems low, but that may be just my ignorance.. All good fun..
