Red, having gone through god knows how many mails (with loads still to read), I think we all know you hate festivals by now Just to give you the FACTS. We had 5 hours of thunder and lightning Friday morning, starting at 0500. Yes there were lightning strikes on site, but NO-ONE hurt. Yes, there was MINIMAL flooding on one VERY SMALL area of the 800+ acre site, and 450 people lost everything ( the golden rule of festivals.. you only take what you can afford to lose ). So, out of the 150000 people on site 0.3% were severly affected. They were clothed and put up at the organisers expense ( good of them considering you can kit yourself out for less than #20 from the stalls on site ). Anyone with an idea would know not to pitch their tent at the bottom of a hill. The weather was EXACTLY ( inc the thunder & lightning ) as was forecasted on the tv/radio/newspapers/online weather sites, so people who went unprepared have only themselves to blame. Trina had her best Glasto ever, despite a drop of H2O, and we've all got great suntans. And changing the weekend is pure comedy.. This is the UK dontcha know.. We're obviously built of stronger stuff, or have a greater tolerance of roughing it for a couple of days each year.... - --- Red wrote: > At 09:53 AM 6/24/05, you wrote: > >both years i went (2002/2003), beautiful... only > light rain for a few > >minutes here and there. > > You were lucky then! ;-) > I heard it got flooded last night and lightning hit > one of the stages! :-O ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * http://www.neonhalos.blogspot.com ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 15:05:59 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas glasto tv At 03:07 PM 6/28/05, you wrote: >Good grief....... > >Red, having gone through god knows how many mails >(with loads still to read), I think we all know you >hate festivals by now so? ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * http://www.neonhalos.blogspot.com ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 15:12:42 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas glasto tv At 03:07 PM 6/28/05, you wrote: >And changing the weekend is pure comedy.. duuuuuuuuuuuuuuh! > This is the >UK dontcha know.. I've braved thunderstorms every year at the craft festivals I attend, under big trees I might add....and I know how to prepare myself for rain....I always lasted longer than most crafters at the fairs. Know how to pitch a tent too. But..........whatever. Ain't gonna make me wanna attend a festival like that! I can express my opinion just as much as the next person who LIKES going. What's the difference? I say tomato, you say tomahto! ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * http://www.neonhalos.blogspot.com ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Jun 2005 15:18:21 -0400 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas glasto tv At 03:07 PM 6/28/05, you wrote: >Just to give you the FACTS. > >We had 5 hours of thunder and lightning Friday >morning, starting at 0500. But geesh, if you think it's no big deal that 450 people lost everything, then I feel sorry for you. Yeah, they maybe shouldn't have pitched their tent at the bottom of the hill......... but someone has to. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * http://www.neonhalos.blogspot.com ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V4 #223 ********************************
