Editors - likened to an English version of Interpol have so far released only two singles, their debut "Bullets" and recently "Munich" - which have given us a taste for their dark Joy-Division esque rock. With a quintessentially British sound - drawing on influences such as Echo & The Bunnymen (who they cite as one of their main inspirations), Doves, Elbow and REM - the band are causing ripples of excitement in the music industry and are tipped for major success. With a guitar sound from Editors Chris Urbanowicz likened to those of Will Sargeant from Echo and a similar line in dark angsty lyrics, sweetened with the touch of an irrepressibly optimistic streak hoping for redemption in the face of the general futility of life, the influences are noticeable, but Editors cut their own swathe through the history of rock and emerge with their own distinctive sound. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * http://www.softskull.com/detailedbook.php?isbn=1-887128-89-6 * http://www.neonhalos.blogspot.com ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 May 2005 23:55:38 +0100 (BST) From: Stu Bird Subject: Re: seven-seas Editors & The Arcade Fire 6 Music has been playing them a fair bit over the last couple of months, and has done interviews with them etc. Not bad at all.. Do you know if this is as well as Billy Bragg @ Cornwall or instead of? Still toying with the ideal of riding down and back on the motorbike... Changing the subject a bit.. Dunno how many people are into the new Arcade Fire album Funeral. If you like it and haven't already, you really ought to see them live.. Th elive dynamic is so powerful with the strings and the recorded stuff does not do them justice at all.. I took Trina down to see them last night "deaf" ( not having heard anything by them ).. She was amazed, but disappointed with the album once we'd got back home. Shame they had to pull out from Glasto, but real glad we saw them last night. Also disturbing news from the Low camp http://www.chairkickers.com/toast/toast.asp?sub=show&action=posts&fid=4&tid=285 Still my favourite album of the year.
