The Bunnymen are not exactly a young band. They really should have done this back in 98 when they were still riding along on the comeback success of Evergreen or when the box set came out. I first saw the band play a converted coffee shop here in Bristol some time before you first did, so the passion is equal from here I can assure you.. Admittedly we have the advantage of more exposure to the band here so it's a tad different I guess. Artists getting shagged was par for the course for decades and was only till recent years ( still is for many) .. Unfortunate, not right, but true. As for record companies being evil, most of the majors have lineage to arms/defence companies.. coincidence?? It is great to see bands go a more independant route these days, but for long established bands, the whole back catalogue thing becomes a minefield once they move.. Then of course, the touring aspect is more dependant of ledger lines rather than anything else without the backing from big record companies.. It's not a total lost cause though.. Take Liverpool band Amsterdam for example.. They've just gone into the top 40 with a split single with labelmates Ricky, and have backed it with a successful tour of small venues.
