Les Oh it had to be 'Radio City' in New York when we were headlining, that was amazing, the place was so big you felt like a cloakroom attendant. But some of the gigs we played with New Order were great. ETB What was you're favourite Bunnymen song? Les It had to be 'Bed Bugs' because that came from a bass idea I had at a sound check. It was one of those things were we had to record a B-side. I started playing the bass line, then Pete joined in on the drums with brushes. Mac was in the pub. The song unfolded from the bass line. Which I don't think Mac liked. Which explains why in the past he has always tried to re-record it. For example when we were playing at the NEC & the manager came up & said "hey lads I've got a 12" for you" "A 12" of what" was are reply, and it turned out to be a remix of 'Ballyhoo' Will, Pete & I got into the car with a copy of the remix on tape & listened to it, I tell you Will, Pete & I were nearly sick, we walked back into the dressing room & just chucked the tape at him & said "who the f**ck gave you permission to do that" ? He just looked around at Mac. You should never mess with something that is great. ETB Have you heard the remixes on the 'Avalanche' EP? Les No not yet. Its all a bit weird ETB So what's happening with the 'Love Pastels' Les Its still in my head, I'm just loaded with reality at the moment, but I will get an EP together soon. The mane problem is that I have got to many boats in the way of my studio at the moment... What would it take to get you back into the band? Les "B#1000 a week, taxed payed, minimum contract of one year, everything to be equal the way it used to be & to be carried about on a big chair"! ETB Are you happy? Les Yeah very happy, as happy as you can be getting old ha ha ha . ETB Is it true you nearly joined Oasis? Les Yeah, well it was supposedly just a phone call away, it was all to do with Curly he was working with them at the time & he phoned me up & said "Les get down here Oasis need a bass player" & I replied "something along the lines of I can't at the moment I'm doing something" ETB Les I think you should get back with the band because the Bunnymen are missing you & need you ? Les At the end of the day it's a fact that commercially they have gone flat & it does need us all to get things going. Somebody has got it wrong. We chatted a bit more then Les took me for a tour of his work shop/boat house to show me his pride & joy, his 'Riva' speedboat. A Big thank you must go to Les and not forgetting Debbie & Rebecca for the laughs. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Dec 2004 21:45:25 -0000 From: "Shaz" Subject: Re: seven-seas set lists well last night..... they opened with Going Up and then With A Hip it was brill...never heard them live before :-) They played a new song too(called Joe at the mo I think)......would need to hear it more to form an opinion but sounded good on first listen...
