Its pretty common to find set list archives these days, maybe we'll have to all work on it together then? Les No, I think I have said everything I have wanted to musically. Ever since Petes death things have been a bit different. I don't know I would have to think very hard about it. I could never see the point of 'Thunder Bird 1' ETB Which 'Thunder Bird' would you be? Les Oh that's easy 'Thunder Bird 2', I could never see the point of 'Thunder Bird 1'. 'Thunder Bird 2' had 'Thunder Bird 4' inside its belly it was always at the front during any rescue. 'Thunder Bird 3' was crap, it was just a taxi to outer space. ETB Did you enjoy working with Terry Hall? Les:- Yeah it was really strange because Will was working with Mac. I had started a sandblasting business for some reason, then one night Broudie (Ian) phoned me up & said do you want to play bass for Terry. I remember Terry phoning me at home, I thought he wanted his house sandblasting, it was like "Terry who?". Terry was a big fan of the Bunnymen (Pete having played drums for Terry's band The Colour Field) so it worked really well. We had Craig Gannon (The Smiths) on guitar & Chris (now with Robbie Williams) on drums who's hero was Pete, yeah it was great. ETB Do you think that the Bunnymen as they are today should call it a day? Les Call it a day or be Creme Brulee, putting my Mums illness to one side I do think that I would have walked out if things had not changed. I could see the way it was going, I wasn't listened to when I said things. When you work with some one like Mac he can be a genius or a pompous ass & between the two is a very fine line & at the end of the day we were a team. There not really the Bunnymen anymore its more Electrafixion now, if they gave it all up now the name 'Echo & The Bunnymen' would become a legend. ETB Who were the best support band you have had on a tour? Les 'The Deftones' were fantastic, but I tell you we have had some bad bands like 'Leather Nun' the 'Longpigs' were good. But if I had to pick one it would be 'New Order' we did a ten week CO headliner tour that was f**king great. What is it you are mumbling in the background during the track 'Over The Wall'? Les Well that's for me to know, no it was different ever night it just started with Mac singing something different & I would just join in, it would all depend on how good it was all going on the night. ETB What was the most satisfying thing about being in the band? Les Playing live because it makes it pure, when you go into the studio you have an idea in your head & you play it change it then a producer will put his mix on it. Playing it live no one can put a mix on it that's why it's so pure. At this point load singing can be heard coming from the lounge were Les's wife & daughter are singing along to 'Gloria' by U2. ETB With U2 playing in the background do you ever regret that you didn't work America for longer? Les No it was just one of those things, U2 would do 3 Months in America & we would just do 3 Weeks, I don't think we were prepared to stay over there that long. We were never career minded but they were, they are very calculated. They try to come across as not being but oh they are. They have got there own style, they know what to record to make a record sound like a U2 record. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V3 #517 ********************************
