Well, since all the good stuff is back in the mainstream, they're stuck covering the yuk stuff! Nah, it's not dead, look at The Darkness! :-) Especially the guitar solos in the new Band Aid 20 horror :-) ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Dec 2004 16:04:53 +0000 (GMT) From: Anne Gleeson Subject: Re: seven-seas Re: Paint A Vulgar Picture > Which bands do you find derivative? Most all of them to be honest, LOL. Maybe if I was more interested in the whole knob-twiddling thing it would be different, but that's just not my thing.... It all started with the Strokes - after them all of the indie guitar pop bands just started sounding just like the bands they were influenced by to my ears.... Examples? Keane I love (not ashamed to admit it, either) but they do sound just like Travis. Franz Ferdinand I don't hate, but they sound like Gang of Four and Talking Heads to me. I guess for me there's a fairly fine line between being very influenced by a band and wearing that influence on your sleeve. Don't mind me, I'm just vaguely bored and whingy from the jet-lag. Oh, and really cold. :) Anne xx ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Dec 2004 16:32:35 -0000 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas Re: Paint A Vulgar Picture That does paint a picture - -----Original Message----- From: Anne Gleeson Maybe if I was more interested in the whole knob-twiddling thing it would be different, but that's just not my thing.... ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Dec 2004 17:22:09 +0000 From: Barry Whiting Subject: Re: seven-seas Re: Paint A Vulgar Picture >>Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: >>Which bands do you find derivative? Are you saying that ultimately Brian Wilson could single handedly be responsible for the existence of all good music?
