I saw them in the 80's once. Pretty good show. Bands > like that, The Jam and some Blur for example are just so full of Brit > slang and references its hard to find an audience here There will always be a niche audience made up of those of us who already "get" most of the slang/references and are into the genre. Whenever I see bands talking about "breaking" America, I think of a giant rock. Instead of trying to sledgehammer it, getting a toehold and clinging like a barnacle is a better start. Because of market size, a "niche" audience here is a considerable number of fans. ===================================================================== Bunnymen Online Presence: http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info * http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ * http://bunnymen.nexuswebs.net/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ * ====================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Dec 2004 10:45:36 -0000 From: "Noose Boy" Subject: RE: seven-seas Re: Sham 69 Borstal Breakout Angels With Dirty Faces ('who's on top of the pops then') If The Kids Are United Hersham Boys All classics, great live act. Questions & Answers.... I'd say that they were the catalyst ( although not by their own design ) for the Oi movement rather than being "pub rock".. The live Sham gigs I saw were always plagued with violence ( usually caused by the meatheads), and as a result never lived up to my expectations. You would usually get The Jam, Buzzcocks, Undertones, SLF etc all touring within weeks of each other and the Sham gigs were always at the bottom for me.
