Whilst I have no choice here in the UK until I can afford to move, I will not contribute to an economy run by the Republicians.. Yes, I could probably choose carefully what and where I spent money on during a visit, but there are always taxes that go to the central exchequer. It's all about spending in an ethical way ( to my personal beliefs ).. --- Red wrote: > At 08:29 PM 11/4/04 +0000, you wrote: > > >I'm gutted for all of you Americans, I really am. I'm not sure exactly how my last email came off, but mostly what I meant was, its not like visiting over here is anything similar to going to Hitler's Germany or something. Not yet anyway. I guess all I meant was that I think some people have gone a little extreme with their reactions to the election results. I'm not exactly sure how I'm republican with my views. I can't even listen to them or even watch Fox news (the conservative channel). I even have a couple of conservative friends that think I'm a raging liberal. I'm really bummed out that Kerry lost. I really thought that the majority in this country wanted a change - NEEDED a change and we were all ready for it and ready to get rid of Bush. Apparently I was wrong, so were a lot of us. I agree with your points, and I feel that we are ignoring a lot of problems in the world, and focusing too much on the wrong things. I certainly don't understand why our president is so focused on Iraq and drilling in Alaska, when we need to help people who are REALLY in trouble(like in Africa), and do something about our environment which is getting worse by the year. Anyway, I just wanted to clarify, and add a little more of my opinions so you don't think I'm just some callous jerk Republican. And, I also agree that we are being conditioned not to care about these things. When I think about my previous email, I realize that I must have sounded like one of those 18-25 year olds we were counting on to turn out in record numbers, but for whatever reason didn't even care. *sigh* Rob > From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org > Reply-To: seven-seas@smoe.org > Date: Thu, 18 Nov 2004 19:19:41 +0000 > To: seven-seas@smoe.org > Subject: Re: OT seven-seas November Spawned A Monster > > so..
