The riddle of Epicurus sums it up perfectly... Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? Rob Maher wrote: I agree Peter. It is wrong that religion is being used as a political tool these days. Not to get religious or anything, and of course no politician is perfect but I think what I find interesting is that if you compare Bush's policies with Jesus teachings, I think you will find a lot of inconsistencies. I think that is what the Kerry camp should've tried to do. Rob > --- "Charbonneau, Peter J" wrote: > >> Hard to believe. Job losses. If the physical universe is one of contrast (can't have an up without a down, in/out, black/white, yin/yang, etc.), then man, moment to moment, is free to choose from that spectrum of experiences. A whole buncha other metaphysical hoo-ha plays into this, such as individual attention and intention as guided by emotion, and quantume particle/wave theory, and all this other pretentious-sounding stuff . . . far too much to go into at length (or, indeed, girth) here. If ya read "The Book" by Alan Watts, it might shed some light. Not that I have any idea, necessarily, what the fuck I'm talking about. - --Chris A.
