Can't speak to the other countries because I've only ever visited the UK
and France (and the latter for nine hours).  You have shite service because
customers aren't allowed to carry guns ;-)  (though hey I'm all for gun
control, a certain measure of fear in not pleasing a customer improves
service exponentially).

Much of the lowlife you refer to are called townies, chavs, neds, spides,
and other such monikers.  Just ban Buckfast and Burberry and you'd have
most of that problem solved.  The footie hoodlums?  Segregate them on
one or two cars of a train away from the people who just want to get home
in peace.  I wonder if a no-swearing section of a stadium would help things
be more family-friendly?  I mean, you can't even drink within sight of
the pitch, so what's one more restriction?

Observations from the outside point of view.  Oh and save a spot for me
in 2017 ;-)

On my second day on my trip to the UK, I went to Tescos (grocery store)
and noticed one of my favourite bands was at #1 on the Tescos album
chart.  I did a happy dance right there in the aisle.

You can imagine the stares I got!
