To be honest, I'd have paid whatever for the new stuff anyway, so a cd copy of London Calling isn't too bad a hassle for me as my vinyl has at least one noticiable scratch. Funny, I'm not sure if anyone else has ever done this, but you get used to scratches and jumps on your vinyl and those noises become part of the song after a while. You hear the song it in a shop and the correct, clean version really throws you !!.. Sorry I digress... That's a point, if anyone in the UK has downloaded all the goodies the Zapster put up and has a cd burner, I'd be more than happy to provide blanks and postage for a copy on disc.. Working with this box is like being stuck in a dark room looking for a black lightswitch.. LOL. But then I find so many "new" bands fall into that category for me - they sound so much like what's come before them but do it so well that they sort of bore me, but also don't really bother me all that much.... But that's just me. I sort of think Streets should have won. I can only listen to him in small doses but I do think he's original and clever and speaks to people more than most of what's on the radio.... I probably listen to Snow Patrol and Keane the most out of all of the nominees, but that's just where my heads at right now and I'm not 100% sure I think either of them particularly deserved the prize.... Oh, and one other WAY off topic (even off this topic really) comment: when did Brian Eno start looking so damn good? I always thought he was sort of funny looking and unattractive, but he's aging VERY gracefully, IMHO. Or maybe I was just deliriously tired last night. ;) Anne xx --- carlito way wrote: > >P.S Franz Ferdinand just won the Mercury prize.. But I love the whole damn thing, pretty much. Strummer makes a few appearances in the new Ramones documentary, "End of the Century." He oozes charm, as he always did. The Ramones, barring Joey, who seemed kinda shy and pensive, were either obnoxious and sour (Johnny), unbelievably stupid and deluded (Dee Dee), or strange (C.J. in full business suit talking with bad Boston-ish accent) Marky (frat boy). Oh, the first drummer seemed pretty together, though. Overall, a pretty sad movie. Great footage, great music, etc.,but man, they HATED each other. Seemed like a miserable way to spend 20-plus years. - --Chris A. Noose Boy wrote: I think I'm on my 3rd vinyl copy of London Calling so about time I got it on CD.
