The FA have chosen a song by Liverpool band The Farm as the official anthem of the England team. All Together Now - already a hit twice over in the 1990s - has been re-mixed to provide the battlecry for England glory. And to complete the Scouse flavour, pupils from a Liverpool school and regulars from a city pub provide backing vocals on the new version of the song. The ECHO understands a video to go with the song will be shot soon and that the new recording of the song features the acclaimed SFX school choir - and regulars from the Rose and Crown, which is situated close to Elevator Studios in Cheapside, Liverpool city centre. Peter Hooton, lead singer of The Farm, is a diehard Liverpool fan and follows the team all over Europe. But he swallowed his pride in 1995 when he allowed arch rivals Everton to re-release All Together Now as their official Cup Final song, with new vocals supplied by Keith Mullin, the band's True Blue guitarist. All Together Now was first a hit in 1990 when it catapulted The Farm to international stardom. The FA and Peter Hooton today refused to comment but an official announcement is expected to be made shortly. It is not the first time the FA have looked to Liverpool musicians. In 1996 Lightning Seeds frontman Ian Broudie penned the smash hit Three Lions which took England all the way to the final of the European Championships. Two years later the official tune On Top of the World was recorded by the Spice Girls, featuring Widnes's own Mel C, and Echo and the Bunnymen star Ian McCulloch. And who can forget the starring role played by Liverpool winger John Barnes as a rapper in the New Order classic World in Motion recorded for the World Cup in 1990? ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 May 2004 17:31:54 +0100 From: Barry Whiting Subject: seven-seas Uncut There's a reprint of a "Mac the Mouth" article (from 1989) in this month's Uncut.
