Very tricky. Honestly, they should go to a seniority system if they're going to be so paranoid about scalping (oops.... touts). It's the best solution I've seen. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Apr 2004 17:12:28 -0400 From: "Sheldon Cooper" Subject: Re: seven-seas Glasto Hassle - what proof you will weed As UK drivers lisences don't have a picture on them why not just scan (if they have 1) the "official " ticket holder's in, insert your name & print it out ? Sorry if it reappears later....... Last year, Michael Eavis was suggesting that a fair way may be to restrict people in so much that if you went to the 2004 festival, then you wouldn't be able to buy a ticket for 2005. That way every one could go to every other year .Now nothing has been said about this idea since last year, but he now has a database of all those attending this year.. I need to find out more.. If he is going down this route, then there is a big probability that I will cancel my tickets, as otherwise, I will never be going with my usual friends unless someone skips a year at some stage.. It really is a monumental balls-up, and I'm still seething. Going back to pre-95 set-up without the dance tent would help things ( although I really like lots of dance music ), as would cancelling bands who announced themselves as playing before all the tickets had sold. Unfortunately, Eavis announced last year that McCartney would be playing this year ( not my bag at all ), so he carries some responsibility .. See?, I'm off again... arrgh !! Stu Amy Moseley Rupp wrote: If the good folks at Glasto want to ensure that the people they want to get the tickets actually have them, they *could* program THE TICKETS and begin collecting an electronic attendance list at the gates. In future years, those who have attended before would be able to buy first, ensuring that all those folks would get tickets (unless they shrank capacity). To expand beyond that, they *could* require that an previous attendee be the one to purchase a ticket for a first-timer, which would lessen the chances of scalping -- each "season" ticket holder being able to sponsor one or two new folks.
