I'm OVER THE MOOOOOOOOON. ;-) (cow jokes unnecessary) They played Bristol last night -- Stu, you there? and they're playing Camden tonight, then coming over. Gary Lightbody, the lead singer, is the quintessential funny Irish frontman, and a sweetheart. If Echo are my Woody, then Snow Patrol are my Buzz Lightyear! (LOL) Still haven't finalised my schedule but it's beginning to jel. Trouble is getting between venues fast enough -- there are little streetcar sized buses, and bicycle rickshaws called "penny cabs" but it's just madness every night. After SP I have to get to the opposite end of the entertainment district to see The Amazing Pilots & The Crimea. There's a Cooper Temple Clause in-store day after tomorrow (God, I can't believe this is finally happening!). We tend to only get British bands during SXSW and never at other times of the year so please forgive my excitement -- it's like getting absolutely blind drunk on music for five days then nothing til the next year. It's for the release of the remastered CDs. They give them a great review....and have given all the albums (except the gray one) great ratings. The picture is also from the original line up (with Pete sporting a beard). They article has great things to say about the Bunnies. Here is how they rated the CDs... Croc XXXX (4 stars) HUH XXXX (4 stars) Porcupine XXXXX (5 stars) Ocean Rain XXXX (4 stars) EATB XX (2 stars) _________________________________________________________________ Learn how to help protect your privacy and prevent fraud online at Tech Hacks & Scams. http://special.msn.com/msnbc/techsafety.armx ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 19:26:10 +0000 (GMT) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Stu=20Bird?= Subject: Re: seven-seas-moderated OT: Snow Patrol (was Who should I see) Hmm.. Still have 2 mint, unused tickets here.. It was always gonna be a difficult gig to get to.. Both mum and mum-in-law's birthdays, and the only other sitter bailed out on us at the last minute.. I went down to try and sell the tickets, but there were so many touts selling.. I felt like a drug dealer with all these people getting angry saying that they already had tickets.. So I went back home.. Trina had the night off, and it just wouldn't have been right for me to stay and watch the band when she should have also been there ( I've gotten away with this with the Bunnymen before, but Snow Patrol would have been pushing it !! ). Apparantly, they went down a storm, although all my friends haven't been in touch, probably because they don't want to rub my nose in it. But the one report I have had was all good. The venue was "upgraded" twice for the show, and I don't really like it, and the beer is 3 quid a pint, so that also made the decision easier for me.. I'm really pleased that I got to see them in a 120 capacity venue last autumn.. There's a lot of footage from SXSW this weekend on our radio, so I'll try to record whatever I can for you.. I hear that Thirteen Senses will be playing so that's another I'd suggest along with The Killers and those already posted on VT. Next gig for us will be Liverpool band Amsterdam on April 8th here in that 120 capacity venue if anyone's around the area.. There is a bit of a meet with some people from the McNabb and Wylie lists.. Should be a great gig.
