Only thing is, it also seems to fade about 5 seconds earlier than the import copies. I know this sounds a bit "anal" but anyone else notice this slight difference? and heh, does anyone else care? :) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Feb 2004 20:27:15 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas Remasters Question > Although I'd already purchased all the import (UK) remasters (from > amazon), I took a chance and purchased a domestic (US) copy of the grey > album from a local shop to see if the BOTDH -remix- was "patched" ... > and it was! > > Only thing is, it also seems to fade about 5 seconds earlier than the > import copies. Yeah, yeah, I can go into AcidPro & fix it, but.... You are *definitely* a loyal fan to purchase *two* copies of the Grey Album! (Amy - Love Rush too, always wanted to say that :) ) I'm livid. Ivan - Congratulations! You have just won the Asshole of the Year award. You stole from the PayPal account so you can get new clothes for a low-end job? THAT's the reason? What a loser. And for you to even elude any negativity towards the band is so appallingly disgusting to me I can't even speak. How dare you diss the band in anyway, especially after what you did. Like Ian wouldn't give you back the signed copies. Complaining how hard it was to get them signed? What an asshole!!! Like anyone believes the band/management wouldn't give you copies of releases. MY ASS! This is truely the most stunning piece of bullshit I have ever read in my life. I can't even formulate words right now to properly ream you. Yep - Asshole of the Century Award to you buddy. Warmer than Joy Division while further left-of-center than U2's "Boy," the group's dark but invigorating 1980 debut is notably augmented by the '81 "Shine So Hard" live EP. "Heaven Up Here," from 1981, founders a bit with a dreary atmosphere that could have benefited from a few of its predecessor's head-rush surges, but guitarist Will Sergeant shines with innovative new ideas, and "Show of Strength" and "With a Hip" are among the band's best moments. "The Cutter" and "The Back of Love" get the group's 1983 follow-up off to a strong start that's difficult to sustain, but "Porcupine" is dotted with highlights in its ambitious arrangements. It includes seven bonus tracks. The band reined in its sound for the romantic, windswept drama of the next year's "Ocean Rain." Dubbed "the greatest album ever made" by band vocalist Ian McCulloch, it's at least the Bunnymen's best, with eight bonus tracks rounding out the moving original set. "Echo & the Bunnymen," from 1987, might have seemed like a sellout to the band and to longtime fans, but it still succeeds years later as a bright pop collection anchored by the hit "Lips Like Sugar." The single "Bring on the Dancing Horses" and a cover of The Doors' "Soul Kitchen" are among the seven bonus tracks. The following is an abridgement of an e-mail I'd sent to friends, and forwarded to management, as well as Peter Allen, who will be babysitting the site until he's named my successor, or a replacement is found. I make no excuses, and I'm not asking to be forgiven. I'm just telling you what really happened.... - ----- Original Message ----- From: Ivan Smith To: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2004 9:35 PM Subject: ...and so it goes... Hi. Thanks for your concern - your e-mails, phone calls. Where to begin: As you know, I re-connected with my daughter in the Spring, after not having seen her for the better part of a decade. From that moment, she became my #1 priority. I re-evaluated my life choices, and went back to work in retail - - a 'day job'. I was hired on as part of the sales staff of a not yet opened department store. Through June and July, I worked 40-50 hours a week, processing product, throwing freight, moving fixtures.. the grunt work that precedes a grand opening. All my income at that time went to catching up on back-owed child support. As opening drew near, I realized I had no suitable wardrobe for my new position. I made the choice at that time to 'borrow' funds from the Paypal account to purchase a couple suits, dress shirts, etc... I felt once we opened and commissions kicked in, that I'd have no problem re-paying the money to the Paypal account. End of Summer came, I'd paid part of the money back, but at the same time, I'd been spending a lot of my paychecks on my daughter - stupid attempts at compensation for my 8 years of absence from her life. I'd been contacted by Pete and Peasy by that point to sort out matters, and had confessed within the month what I'd done... They asked that I process and forward the orders to them. Since then, I just haven't been able to bring myself to sit down, and sort out the whole thing - - or any of it. I did, in fact, ignore all their e-mails... Didn't actually read any of them. Just set them all aside. Over a year ago, the Bunnymen ceased to be a priority in my life. At the time I took on the responsibility for the website, I was ill-equipped, and inexperienced. Will Sergeant allowed me to grow into the position, and I was given a lot of leeway, and dealt with in great patience - probably because I was doing it all for free. Free except for this: Will told me when I signed on, that I'd get copies of any and all releases, and would have all-access to gigs in perpetuity. Well, they were pretty good about getting me a copy of "Flowers", and the "It's Alright" singles... However, I had to beg Rhino for "Crystal Days", and bought my copies of "Make Me Shine", "Slideling" "Love In Veins" & "Sliding" as well as the remasters. The re-issue of "Avalanche" was problematic to begin with - I was told to offer it up for sale months before it was even PRESSED. I didn't find out until after a month of presales that it hadn't been mastered yet. I covered management's ass big-time for that one. Of course, at the time, Pete and Peasy promised me the "first copy" of the CD.... I still haven't gotten my hands on one. Does any of the above excuse my actions? Of course not. I think, really, though, that I'd been looking for a way out for a long time - I guess I subconsciously chose this as my way of doing it. Now, to answer to some side-accusations that have floated on the Seven-Seas list: As far as the 25th anniversary competition went - I shouldn't have started that one in the first place. That one was my idea - all the items I'd offered as prizes were part of my personal collection - the guitar Will supposedly 'donated', according to one accuser, I purchased off eBay nearly two years ago. In fact, I purchased most of the 'prizes' on eBay over the course of the past 3 or 4 years, long before this whole money scandal. The Crystal Days samplers were sent to me by Rhino, because they found them lying around when they were moving offices... Why didn't I go on with the competition? Because I didn't have the time or energy to come up with the questions, nor the funds to pay postage for delivery of the prizes. About the comments regarding earlier "Avalanche" prizes not delivered to Seattle Bunnymen fans - Well, I'd brought those along with me to the gig to have signed by Ian & Will. Getting Mac to sign them was a major bitch, and he wound up giving the copies to two buxom things at our table after the show... The fans who I'd owed them to tried to get my attention at that point, but I was frustrated and drunk and blew them off... Regarding Bunnymen.com - accusations that I'd deleted posts regarding "where's my avalanche" were correct. I did delete some forum posts. However, the accusation that I disabled the website during the tour is false - We went over bandwidth, because too many people were visiting, and partaking of multimedia content. Management said they'd sort payment to the provider. A couple weeks later, they asked me to sort it. Did I recently disable the forums? Yes. I since have e-mailed management with the access urls, usernames and passwords for the site and the mailing list. I have no access to bunnymen.com I have deleted my bunnymen.com user account. I know I must make restitution to Ian and Will. I do sincerely believe I will do that at some point. As for the fans - well, I've let them down for sure. As for me, I'm ok... I'm really glad it's all out there. The whole thing about the Bunnymen being a 'cult' band it pretty spot-on. I've become pretty obsessed with them since 1997. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours of my time chasing that obsession. Time to move on. Please, don't phone my home or leave voice messages regarding any of this. If you can muster the slightest bit of respect for me, please respect my privacy and the privacy of those with whom I live. Oh, and XXXXXXXXXX, if you can pass this info along to XXXXXXXX, I'd appreciate it. He doesn't have 'the e-mail', and I really can't talk to him right now. That's it....
