I am no defender of Ivan Smith, but that is only fair. This is true. Most people who find themselves in this position usually just got in over their heads. I was a bit surprised to see him labelled as a "thief" by what appeared to be formal Bunnymen management communication. I'd hope that that judgment would be passed by a court of law and not popular opinion. Ivan did volunteer loads of time to run the site, and many of us have benefitted from his work. He certainly wasn't very nice to *me*, but that's not a crime. ;-) I was about to post something along these lines after having a brief chat with a fellow seven-seas member and thinking that I'd come down too hard on him. I hope the band's management can work with fans to make sure everyone's taken care of, because that's a natural source of anger. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 14:13:44 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: Re: seven-seas I'm sorry , but........ > with love > jonnykat > whom will soon be dissappearing forever on this list... Why disappear? Communication is what helps people get what they need and find out when something's gone wrong. We need more of it, not less. I agree with your album ideas ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 15:17:56 EST From: Iangeannapeter@aol.com Subject: Re: seven-seas Bunnymen.com Its a conspiracy thing I tell you!!!! Nyah ha ha But seriously Ive been reading stuff on the subject of orders not being honoured and just think that as usual the fans get short changed again. Regarding the forum posts I recall the the forum being inaccessible for the start of the 25th anniversary tour. I wondered at the time whether it was because of the mixed reviews coming through about the lack of anything special and the set content etc. I recall also that this was spun into something like "we've seen them so many times that we are too critical" Just a thought The Reverend Ian Presley ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 15:32:16 EST From: Iangeannapeter@aol.com Subject: seven-seas Weird shit Following on from my earlier email I hadnt read about the Ivan thing. Madness. Why do something like that? Its beyond belief really. I luckily havent bought from the website but did win a copy of the boxset comp. CD in a competition which never materialised despite a reminder to Ivan. No doubt the story will transpire but why didnt the band and management suss him? For those of you in the New England area who haven't bought the remastered CDs yet, Newbury Comics has them on sale for $8.99! If you buy at the Nashua or Manchester, NH stores, you pay no income tax. While I did purchase three imports for $19.99, I am so glad I didn't order online for the same price. By waiting, I saved $20. Enjoy, I am. I was pretty sure that it was Ivan although I have no proof. I wasn't even asking for anything than more than what I paid for them. There was no reason to do that. Now, we find out Ivan is bootlegging? God, what a hypocrite. Has anyone reported him to eBay yet?
