Brilliant both times.. Just don't go with The Coral in your mind and you'll be okay..IMvHO, they're much better as they have an extra dimension.. Love to get up there, but I can't afford a bus ticket to Bristol city centre yet alone anywhere else !! Have a good one, Stu Spliff Head wrote: I'm going to see what all the fuss is about, anyone else fancy going and meeting for a beer then let me know off list. I am understanding this ( I probably have to stay in more than most regardless of want !! ). I don't want to sound like the Devil's advocate, but surely a lot of this is down to the MP3 tags which means loads of manual work if you are say, transferring vinyl, tape etc, or you have to hope that whomever you are downloading off of ( if you use filesharing ) adopts a similar tagging pattern to yourself. Otherwise you would have to check every download. It's a great idea, and I may even have to add some extra fields to my music catalogue database when I'm next looking at making up compilation cdr's.. Cheers for the info Barry. Like I said, I have no choice but to be in 5 nights a week so this will give me something else to do other than upsetting people on here ;-) Ta, Stu Barry Whiting wrote: - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stu Bird" > Just out of interest, how do you run specific search criteria over dozens of folders to > obtain these tracks and build automatic playlists without exploring etc ??.. > The thought of manually looking through all my folders and some 2500+ mp3's on the > pc is daunting ( not to mention the fact that by the time I'd done it, I probably wouldn't > wanna listen to the damn thing anyway ! ).. Or is this the magic of the ipod ? Not just the ipod, all Mp3 players with decent software support.....so You have playlists which you build yourself and, as you rightly state, can be quite time consuming but very handy for e.g. compiling all those bonus tracks from the Bunnymen remasters into one handy list, for example. And then there's smartlists, which is what most people end up playing with. Using simple logic and the more useful MP3 tags, you are asking your jukebox software to automatically generates playlists based on the criteria you supply. It can make an interesting listening experience...some examples : "ShortnSharp" -- 1 hour of random mp3s, when each track is less than 3 minutes long, and has a BPM value > 140 ; "New" -- 1 hour of random mp3s released this year/last year, that I've not listened to for over 30 days. ; "Covers" -- Random selection of mp3s with keyword/comment 'Cover' ; "Chill" -- Random tracks with low BPM count and a low "intensity" rating. ; "University Years" -- A random selection of mp3s released between 1989 and 1992. Yes, I really should get out more. - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== - --------------------------------- Yahoo!
