Or is this the magic of the ipod ? Not just the ipod, all Mp3 players with decent software support.....so You have playlists which you build yourself and, as you rightly state, can be quite time consuming but very handy for e.g. compiling all those bonus tracks from the Bunnymen remasters into one handy list, for example. And then there's smartlists, which is what most people end up playing with. Using simple logic and the more useful MP3 tags, you are asking your jukebox software to automatically generates playlists based on the criteria you supply. It can make an interesting listening experience...some examples : "ShortnSharp" -- 1 hour of random mp3s, when each track is less than 3 minutes long, and has a BPM value > 140 ; "New" -- 1 hour of random mp3s released this year/last year, that I've not listened to for over 30 days. ; "Covers" -- Random selection of mp3s with keyword/comment 'Cover' ; "Chill" -- Random tracks with low BPM count and a low "intensity" rating. ; "University Years" -- A random selection of mp3s released between 1989 and 1992. Yes, I really should get out more. - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Jan 2004 19:24:30 -0000 From: "shaz" Subject: seven-seas iPods well.............. I just got mine and as I was opening the box I couldn't stop grinning...the packaging is great...it comes in a sort of jewel box (flip top sort of box) and I had that feeling of excitement that you get as a child at xmas.... it is beautiful and like a diamond ring, not practical, not sensible but a very desirable luxury toy....I am very rarely materialistic but I fell in love with this thing!!!!! People don't usually ask a person who's just got a diamond ring 'what did you get that for' do they?? I haven't even used it yet!!!!!!! but, all the hi-fi mags rate it number one in the music jukebox world and all of them say that the sound is very good.... quote: Hi Fi World Jan 2004 Overall the ipod is very impressive when playing top bitrate AACs - it's easily as good as rivals from Archos and Creative. It will also better any MD portable and hold a candle to a decent CD personal too. Its audio performance is excellent. As well as being a lovely object to behold, with exquisite build and state of the art styling it works so effortlessly. By comparison, everything else feels a bit of a pain. As such, I now find myself a member of another Apple-oriented cult.... so, sound quality is not an issue.... but like I said you can't really justify having one except as a beautiful luxury and personally I'd rather have an iPod than a diamond ring anyday!! Shaz ps - actually the iPod is more practical than a diamond ring. ;-) Each to their own I guess, you pays your money and you takes your choice.... ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Jan 2004 20:32:25 +0000 From: "carlito way" Subject: RE: seven-seas iPods >I haven't even used it yet!!!!!!!
