Or is this the magic of the ipod ? The magic of using any computing device is that yes, you can program smarts into the playlist, far more so than a hi-fi/stereo. My iTunes knows when the last time I listened to a given song was, how many times I've listened to particular songs, even what order I chose when I was actively choosing.... and can use all of this to try to please me if I say "surprise me" or "give me something predictable I like" or whatever. If it employed "smart" downloading, as TiVo does, technically, I could give an artist or a song a thumbs up or down rating, and when it decided to go out and get new music for me, it would, for example, not download any country & western music but might download George Strait if I'd thumbed down C&W but thumbed up that one particular C&W artist. (No, I don't like him, it's an example.) Computing technology can and will change our lives in bad ways; it's up to us to exploit it to please us ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jan 2004 22:12:03 -0000 From: "bruce" Subject: seven-seas Batman season has anyone seen the advert on Channel 5 (UK) for the Batman season- with the killing moon in the background? Please, write to me as soon as possible if you would like a copy and you didn't send your name yet. I want to start sending these copies before the end of january. I attached a small version of the cd cover I designed for it, just so you can all have a look. I will be sending each one a copy with the CDs. Later, Carlos.
