ARSE !!!! It was just an illustration to show the amount of discs you could listen to equivalent to 8hrs which is the suggested charged battery life of the ipod ( one charge ). I guess it depends on how you use your ipod. The issue of carrying the discs only applies if you have to have all your possessions about your person for the whole duration of the time you are at work. Otherwise, you could store them at your desk etc. For travel purposes etc, you only need to have access to a couple of discs (unless your commute is like 3 hrs one way ). Better quality IHvHO is worth the slight inconvenience of (little )extra weight etc. Personally, I don't use any musical gadgetry during the day as we have a hi-fi there, so I don't really give a rat's, but if it was important, I'd still go the minidisc route.. ARSE !!!! I understand now, for comparison, just seemed a contradiction the way I read it. Also, I wasn't sure if you were having a dig at iPods or comparing mp3 players to minidisc? I have a mini disc player and home stereo with a minidisc unit. Unfortunately it was a format that I should have used more but never did. The main reason I got the portable unit was for travel and it records (for gigs). The ones I have can do 4 CDs to one disc. This is getting even better too see link below. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3378627.stm For me the idea of having all my music to hand became quite important when I went travelling and being away from home for long periods. At that time I took the minidisc and a case with 14 discs. Got quite a lot on but no where near to what you can do with these new units. There is certainly an element of gadgetry, I don't deny it, I love these toys but more than anything I know that the new iPod I have just got is going to bring be back in touch with music, new and old, for me that's priceless.
