Will has confirmed that Ian & himself are starting to write the new album next week in Liverpool, Will said "we have already written some songs & we will be working on additional tracks next week". When pressed on what kind of sound they are going for he said " well I would like it to be more darker & moody, but I think Ian is looking for more hit singles. It will be great. We will just have to see what sounds come out at the end of it all " He also reckons that they are looking at a possible pre Summer release for the album, with luck to coincide with the festivals. Will has had a couple of hectic days recently, he has just done an interview for 'Guitar Magazine' (issue on sale in February) & on a more serious note he has had major problem with his septic tank " I have been up to my knees in sh*t ". Oh the life of our hero's. I asked Will how his Glide project has been going, " we are still looking for a deal for the album, but people keep coming up to me & telling me its great, God knows how some of them have heard it " Well that's it for now, as soon as I have some more news you will be the first to get it. ARSE !!!! Okay.. been doing a bit of thinking about this ( hence the delay ).. 1000 songs is approx 100 albums at approx 45 mins per album = 4500 mins = 75 hours of music. Battery life however suggests 8 hours, or approx 10.6 albums, 106 songs So, are people really THAT indecisive that they have to take out with them 9 times as music as they could possibly listen to ?? If you have to plug it in to recharge, then you can also transfer music at the same time ( it can't take that long, what with it being an ipod and all that ). So, is this toy very over-speced for general day-to-day use ? I can take my personal minidisc out with me along with 10 minidiscs and the very small 2AA cell battery pack ( gives me 13 hrs playback in total ) and use up a similar amount of physical space ( better IMHO as I can spread that space around), yet having uncompressed (therefore better quality ) digital copies of the music I want to listen to (along with a sleek remote control unit ). I have a calender, to-do list, calculator, alarm, stopwatch all on my mobile phone.. Oh it's a phone too which I carry around anyway, so why need 2 ? Sorry, I just can't help thinking it's it's purely a fashion gimmick that is massively overspeced as a portable jukebox, and massively underspeced as a palmtop computer.. If you have to plug it in to recharge, then you can also transfer music at the same time ( it can't take that long, what with it being an ipod and all that ). Two things : a) You can recharge direct from the mains. So, fr'instance, when I work away from home, I don't have to decide what I want with me for the week ahead. I have it all to hand... b) Playlists. I probably spend half my listening time listening to playlists (as opposed to albums straight). Give me a random selection of all my music based on some criteria or other. Compile an hours playlist of my favourite tracks that I haven't listened to for over a month. Geeky ? Yes. But great. I feel I could conquer continents with this thing. - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V3 #18 *******************************
