Echo And The Bunnymen - who played a triumphant 25th anniversary gig at the Royal Court on Saturday - received the Q Inspiration Award at Q magazine's 2002 Awards, while singer Ian McCulloch won a special achievement prize at the recent Scouseology bash. Which was the more welcome? That's easy, according to the mouth almighty frontman. He told the ECHO's Paddy Shennan: "The Q award isn't worth the tin it's made out of, because they didn't give any of the Bunnymen's digitally-remastered albums a five star review. "And four months after we got the award, when I wanted to do an interview for my solo album, the new editor said: 'We don't think Mac is very Q'". But he added: "The Scouseology award is different. I was as proud as punch to get that. Anything that connects me with Liverpool in a positive way and high-lights the fact that I'm an ambassador for the city is great." Meanwhile, Mac The Mouth also spoke of his regrets - like going over the top slagging people off: "Jim Kerr, from Simple Minds, for example, is a lovely bloke. "I met him a few years ago and said 'Sorry, I was a ****.' He said: 'Come and have a bevvy'. It's good to bury the hatchet. I did the same with Paul Weller." ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Dec 2003 00:36:05 -0000 From: "stevie g" Subject: Re: seven-seas Liverpool Echo >>>who played a triumphant 25th anniversary gig at the Royal Court ....... where the echo journalists actually there? full respect to the list members who had a great night, but the gig was not at all ''triumphant'', not in any form. sorry. steve g. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 19:57:04 -0500 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Liverpool Echo At 12:36 AM 12/14/03 -0000, you wrote: > >full respect to the list members who had a great night, but the gig was not >at all ''triumphant'', not in any form.
