Ouch. Well you know, we've recently had a huge discussion about changing the headers when topics drift THAT severely away from the original topic. All I wanted to do was read a few mails about the shows...and got that 'shit' instead! Yes, it was shit....coz it was about Bush, politics, Texans... (and god knows what else, as I stopped reading after a few sentences coz it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the L'Pool and London Bunnymen gigs.) I've been unable to keep updated while in the UK, and too tired and busy since my return to sit and sort mails.....and certainly didn't really feel like sifting thru a load of that sort of shit to find the mails about the shows. I'll post replies to the 'geniune' Bunny gig topics later when I have more time to delete the shit! The biggest meet I've seen since ULU!! Great times indeed! Pity things didn't go so well after the L'Pool gig ~ trying to organize where everyone was gonna hang out, etc! (I do admit to being somewhat surprised at the amount of nearly NOT-dressed tarts in the streets of Liverpool on a Saturday night!!!) :-O :-O Didn't they realize it was nearly freezing outside??? hahahaa Hey Barry....turns out we should have done the Parr Street thing afterall. :P We walked down there later after having some drinks at the Magnet, and if they hadn't already stopped serving drinks... we could have got in, no trouble. Ran into some others who said they'd been inside, with no trouble. Pity really! :-( But still.....it was great seeing the usual gang!! :-) :-) And who was it that planned breakfast so damn early??? hahahahhahhaha Sorry, I missed most of you.....but I was still sleeping at 9 am!!! >Susan's not on this list .. oops...yes she is! (she luuurks tho! see? so much that you didn't even know!) ;-) heheheee Charles...it was good finally meeting you! Sorry we didn't get to chit chat more. :-( So many people there! I always find it funny when I go to the UK shows and meet the American fans for the first time! :-) I think you make number 3 or 4 now Charles!! hehehee Red ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Dec 2003 10:53:00 -0800 From: "Ivan Smith" Subject: seven-seas 'Pool gig reviews... got a link in my e-mail this morning to an e-zine's reviews of the Liverpool gig... these reviews reminded me of why I'm a fan: http://www.link2wales.co.uk/tbg/echo.htm - --- It isn't my fault! Well, personally, I didn't think the Liverpool gig was as good as the London gig. (usually London is my least favourite of a tour, but this time it was the best!) I thought the guitars sounded a bit odd, sorta, in liverpool. Things were somehow wrong......but it wasn't horrible or anything. The sound was definitely much better, and the band much tighter in London. Both venues were stunningly beautiful! :-) People keep commenting on how bad the drummer is. :-( But I didn't think so. I did notice a mistake or two in NJ and maybe one or 2 in NYC, but I thought he'd cleaned up his act nicely for the UK shows. I didn't notice anything wrong at those gigs. And no...I wasn't drunk. Not even tipsy at all whatsoever in Liverpool. Drumming mistakes aren't something you can hide easily. You just know the music and ya know if it's not right.... and I didn't notice anything wrong. If it was there.....it was really minor. I mean, I noticed Mac making more mistakes than the drummer!! :-( I actually told Simon after the London show that I felt he was doing a great job. I mean, if Zimbo can make me cry, then he's okay with me. I think he's doing well for not even knowing the band's music before Mac's solo tour!! Pete's gone :-( and I miss Vinny, (he's been around for a long time), but I still have to stick up for Simon. BUT........having said all that........I still can't think of any band I'd rather see more than the Bunnymen...even on an off night! There were quite a few moments during the gigs that were so spine tinglingly and breathtakingly gorgeous that I nearly cried! There's no feeling like that anywhere else on earth! In fact...I did end up losing it during Ocean Rain in London. Imagine standing in Liverpool or London in two of the most gorgeous atmospheric venues in the world, amongst your dearest friends, in an absolutely religiously loyal crowd.....imagine just standing there among the moshers and hecklers and pissheads and blocking all that out, except for the music, and looking up at the gorgeous architecture, and 3 balconies full of fans that are all there for the same exact reason you are... just listening to every note that you've heard over and over a million times in your homes, only now it's coming to life right there in the same room, live, and then Will breaks into that gorgeous solo in Ocean Rain......and you know that bit that makes you get a lump in your throat? Well, it was too overwhelming. It was during those brief moments that I realized why I was standing 3,000 miles away from where I live....in a beautiful venue with all my dear friends....just to see a band....no, not JUST to see a band.... I realized then that their music has changed my life! :-) Nope, nothing does last forever, Stevie G. But the music they've written, and the memories I've gathered because of that music, will. :-) Red ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #919 ********************************
