I disagree, having the world as your producer would mostly likely make the most watered down remix. I'm not a fan of remixes. The only official remix that I know of that is at least equal to the original is U2's "Desire (Hollywood Remix)". It's expanded and sounds both different and similar to the original. I can't stand remixes that add nothing substantially different to the original and / or remixes that are so totally different that I don't recognize the original song in the remix. Can anybody name other remixes by famous song / artist. I don't hear anything new in 95% of the remixes from Depeche Mode, Erasure, The Cure and many other bands from the 80's. Just seems to me to be more of a marketing tool to get our money. U2 officially released an fan only remix cd called "Melon". This inspired the bootleggers to remixed various other songs from the '90's material, mostly, on various other "fruit" cd, called "Orange", "Kiwi", "More Melon", "Banana", Grape", and so on. I prefer the idea of something like "unplugged" versions or something musically different. I love a collection of U2 hits done bluegrass style called "Pickin' On U2" or "David Palmer plays Pink Floyd" with an orchestra. Even our own Bunnymen tribute, "The Best of the Trash" is my idea of what a remix should be -- different enough for the remixer or tributer to have his "own" voice and yet respectful enough of the original artist and song. _________________________________________________________________ Concerned that messages may bounce because your Hotmail account is over limit? What I didn't make clear was that a fan wouldn't be *limited* to only using the tracks from the studio. One could take a completely different bluegrass "The Killing Moon" and *only* use Mac's vocals (of course, you'd have to manipulate the vocal track to fit your backing). This is completely different than only taking what was recorded in the studio and rearranging it, or making one track louder, or adding reverb. All of that could be done, AND one could strip away tracks from the studio, and add tracks of one's own. I hope this explains what I meant. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2003 04:26:25 +0000 From: "Peter Burnand" Subject: RE: seven-seas non-echo non-pc i should be taken out & Date: Mon, 17 Nov 2003 10:06:13 -0000 From: "Noose Boy" That's sick and tastless, can you send some more? - - -----Original Message----- From: Peter Burnand Paul McCartney has just bought his wife a new leg for Christmas.
