Speaking of live recordings, does anyone know on which recordings Mac played Pinky? In specific, I am interested in the Crystal Day tracks. I love the version of "Ocean Rain" taken from that show; Mac's voice is at its best and most powerful, but he's got twenty! less years' experience performing live, and so he wobbles a bit going flat and sharp here and there. But the sheer gloriousness of that voice..... and the band's infectious energy causing the end to at least seem like it's accelerating in tempo..... I wish I could have been there! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 2003 17:04:08 -0600 (CST) From: amyr@jump.net (Amy Moseley Rupp) Subject: seven-seas Remasters -- Oh So Good I am falling in love with _Heaven Up Here_ all over again. Listening is truly a pleasure ;-) I think the decision to remove the standard two-second pause between "With A Hip" and "Over The Wall," thus creating a run-on song, is genius. It just *works*. Of course, those who are purists can always rearrange the songs on their own copies by ripping the songs and burning a new version with the standard two seconds, as well as ditching the extra tracks for the *really* pure. Mac's vocals, Pete's drums, and various other midrange things like acoustic guitar are *so* much clearer. Stereo separation is stunning. Two bits of trivia: The title of Ocean Rain, as encoded on CD, is Ocean Rain (Remastered). None of the other CDs, though, include the (Remastered) in their title. All of the CDs save one encode their genre as Alternative & Punk -- except one of the ones you'd think would best fit that genre -- _Heaven Up Here_! which gets the dubious genre of "Pop." 88 songs, six + hours, and 495.7 MB for your iPod or other if encoded as 192 kbps .mp3 format. Go buy them if you can; download iTunes for Mac *OR* Windows from www.apple.com, and create an instant excuse to beg for an iPod as a Christmas pressy. ;-) ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 2003 18:07:01 -0500 From: "David & Bernice Whiting" Subject: Re: seven-seas NME review >There were only three British bands that really mattered in the '80's: The >Smiths, New Order and Echo and the Bunnymen. That statement is an absolute crock. These were certainly great and important bands, but they weren't the only bands that mattered. Without breaking out a whole list, I will simply site the Chameleons, who have been mentioned as an Interpol influence among others. ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2003 00:04:49 +0000 From: "carlito way" Subject: Re: seven-seas Lupine Howl (pay attention Stu and Thanks for the Lupine Howl info - They are a really awesome, great, fantastic band. Their new website looks cool! I see they are working on a song called Guided By Voices. I'm off to see Guided By Voices (Greatest American Band Ever.) tonight in Toronto. I really hope LP make it over here ASAP. Love (to most of you cats), Zak Carlito _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam?
