I just told a long time friend of mine (who has been a mild bunnyfan for as long as I've been a hardcore fan)......told her the NJ setlist and how the fans are all bitching coz they want different stuff... and she said: having never seen the band live, i wouldn't mind that setlist. :) but you hardcore fans, on the other hand...i can see where you'd be like, "play that unreleased b-side from 1986" or something. There.....that must be the band's exact logic. I also said I'd die a little happier if they'd ever play No Dark Things which I know they at least rehearsed.....but I'll still never EVER tire of hearing Crocodiles, Heads Will Roll, Back of Love or the Cutter live!! And especially Over The Wall....I get chills EVERY time I hear the first note of that one live!! :-) Red ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2003 18:17:33 -0000 From: "Barry Whiting" Subject: Re: seven-seas "play it safe" setlist - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Red" > I also said I'd die a little happier if they'd ever play No Dark Things > which I know they at least rehearsed.....but I'll still never EVER tire > of hearing Crocodiles, Heads Will Roll, Back of Love or the Cutter live!! > > And especially Over The Wall....I get chills EVERY time I hear > the first note of that one live!! :-) Certainly, you can't really argue with the setlist. There's a core of songs (see Ivan's post) that the Bunnymen are expected them to play. I'd be the first to gripe if I left a gig without a rendition of NLF, Killing Moon, Ocean Rain etc etc. Personally, I don't think (e.g.) Bedbugs falls into that group of songs but if that's the case, fair enough, crank it out (...and I appreciate there is a U.S./U.K. perspective to all this). But I do think they could mix it up a little. Not wholesale changes but maybe 3 or 4 songs not in the usual diet. Not obscure B-sides (half the venue disappears to the bar) and I'm not too bothered about HUH/Porcupine tracks, either, because I don't believe they would fit..... ....but why not include a choice moment or two off the well-received "Evergreen" ("Just A Touch Away", "I'll Fly Tonight" for example)...the lead track from "Flowers" (only lasted one tour, IIRC)..."The Game" (one of their best selling singles)..."The Fish Hook Girl" (Ok, it's a B-side but it was always popular live)...etc You know, just something to catch you a little unawares. Anyway, all this is really nit-picking as it's still The Bunnymen live - a great night guaranteed. - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2003 18:20:53 -0000 From: "Barry Whiting" Subject: Re: seven-seas wayahead.com tickets - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Red" > At 08:04 PM 10/28/03 -0000, you wrote: > > >Its up on the forum ... except I can't remember where it was at this minute > >.. I meet some friends there every other week before the match -- great pub, great beer (certainly the first place I'd head to for a decent pint of bitter in Liverpool). It's not the biggest place, that's all. I'm sure the miracle of mobile phones will bring us all together regardless.... - -- Barry Whiting barry@urquell.freeserve.co.uk ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Oct 2003 14:26:01 -0500 From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas wayahead.com tickets At 07:06 PM 10/29/03 -0000, you wrote: >I meet some friends there every other week before the match -- great pub, >great beer (certainly the first place I'd head to for a decent pint of >bitter in Liverpool). It's not the biggest place, that's all. okay...well, someone else over on the forum suggested this place coz they said it was much bigger than the other place that was suggested. (Ship & Mitre?) And it's just across from the venue. can you recommend anything bigger? Have you been to the Ship & Mitre? I guess it's almost as close, maybe another block?
