Wednesday and all. > >- -- Barry Barry (and everyone else), FYI, Rhino is a division of Warner Strategic Marketing, and the re-mastered albums are being handled by exactly the same group of people responsible for the "Crystal Days" box--myself, Bill Inglot, art director Rachel Gutek, etc. I don't think anyone will be disappointed by either the sound or the packaging of these reissues. [Fun trivial fact: when putting together "Crystal Days," Bill Inglot discovered that the original master tape of the "Crocodiles" album had never been used before. That means that every single copy of that album that has ever existed on earth from 1980 until now--on LP, CD, cassette or whatever--has been taken from second generation (or worse) copies. [Why? I dunno.] The tracks on "Crystal Days" were the first to be taken from the true masters. The upcoming re-master will, of course, be sourced from the first-generation tapes as well. Hope you like.] Best regards, Andy Zax - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Express yourself with MSN Messenger 6.0 -- download now! ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2003 19:01:41 -0700 From: "Ivan Smith" Subject: Re: seven-seas News - 09 September 2003 Rhino is a division of Warner Strategic Marketing. For the record (no pun intended), I had a long conversation with Jeff White, the guy who handled a lot of the details for the boxset... He's presenting the case for the release stateside to the A & R and marketing departments at Rhino.. some quick facts - in the US, the Grey Album was the top-seller, with over 100,000 units sold. This year so far, it's sold nearly 3000 units, with 3-4000 units sold each of the past two years. Pretty decent - I'd guess the past three years' sales of that way outnumber sales of Flowers. Also, The Grey Album was properly mastered to CD the first go-round, whereas the others were rush-jobs... that's why the 8 extra tracks on that one, I reckon. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry Whiting" >..."Warners Strategic Marketing" which sounds about as far away from Rock'N'Roll as my socks > (charcoal grey, no pattern if you're interested) - --- It isn't my fault!
