Multi-player games are faster and better on a LAN rather than over the Internet, so clubs with up to 40 spots on their hub popular, staying open most of the night, with players bringing their own laptops or using set-ups. They are, as one would expect, almost entirely male, and are billed as "LANgasms." They are played by teens at after-school get-togethers and sleepovers, and by adults in basements and other spots rented for the purpose. The game of choice is Counter-Strike, pitting five counterterrorists against five terrorists. These "BYOC" events (bring your own computer) are drawing people out of their own basements and into a social atmosphere where they can stand up and taunt their victims. - --Amy ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V2 #745 ********************************
