(I know a few here use it) I keep getting the error message "Could not resolve server address. If your internet connection is up, this might be a temporary problem with your name resolution service. Please try again later". A work colleague is getting exactly the same on his PC, too. And no, it makes no difference if I shut down my firewall. Any clues? I don't know what the server's name is. Is there a configuration box for it? It is probably of the form slsk.com. I'm at work, so don't have it in front of me. It means that either your local DNS server is down in a big way, or one in between you and Soulseek is down. Since you got this mail out to seven-seas, the former is unlikely. Can you access www.slsk.com to see if there is a notice about the server being down, or a change in its name or address? - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Sep 2003 18:28:48 +0100 From: "Matt H" Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Soulseek >The RIAA are on to you.. Smashing is not good enough, the thousand pieces would likely be comprised of the plastic case. :-) Matt, you work at BT: find the largest electromagnet you can get your hands on, and if you can't find one, ask your RAF buddies. Subject your hard drives to the maximum magnetic force you can find. Oh yeah, a couple of your cousins are noted physicists, one in Huddersfield. Ask if you can visit the office ;-) You *could* throw your drives into the Severn, but with your luck, an American tourist would catch one, think it was the Holy Grail, and take it to be forensically examined. Since your service is through BT, shag the system administrator (or, in lieu of, hire someone to do it) and take all the records of your connections. And the backups. Take compromising pictures of said administrator. Geeks want sex, not money. Hit 'em where they are weak. Better yet, be or hire someone to be their sex slave for a couple of weeks, THEN get the records. - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Sep 2003 12:38:48 -0500 From: Amy Moseley Subject: seven-seas OT: UK Citizenship Test This isn't a hypothetical: http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/1/hi/magazine/3077964.stm I obviously need to study more, cos I got a disappointing *four* right, and one of those was (thank God) the pop music one. I could never have lived with myself had I gotten THAT one wrong. I'm appalled at the answer to #6. For nearly everything here in every state, the answer would be "all of the above" by law within three days and for much longer by custom. There are some obvious exceptions, but without ruining the question, I'll leave it there. Have fun! - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Sep 2003 19:29:33 +0100 From: "Matt H" Subject: Re: seven-seas OT Soulseek Sorted. Apparently (I found out by googling for soulseek message forums) it is a known problem, and a fix has been done. I downloaded said fix, and am away again....
