I love the Secret Society EP -- reminds me of all the great 80's type music, by mostly Smiths-y sounding without being an imitator like the first Gene album. Peter, I found the rest of TSD material to be good, but rather typical whereas I found Secret Society to be very special and extraordinary -- especially for an American band! Matt, now i hope TSD can wipe that ugly Pete Yorn taste out of your mouth. I don't get to listen to new music that much because most of it is soulless and has no personality. I respect a lot of peoples opinions here and appreciate it when a strong album comes out that it gets recommended. Thank goodness for downloads and samples in order for us to make our own determination, but owning the CD itself is the art and pleasure of it. But if they're packing it in -- who *else* is going to take their place? I've started a sort of informal poll around here, which is to look at bumper stickers. I loved one that says in huge letters: "!Ya Basta! !Abajo con Bush y Perry!" It's much funnier and to-the-point in Spanish :-) But what I've really been looking for is bumper stickers of bands. (Okay, I commute about two hours a day.) Today was slim pickin's: one lone vehicle had both Portishead and Pavement. Of course, I've never seen a Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears bumper sticker, so maybe it's not a good index of musical sentiment, but as far as getting advert space on vehicles, the Brit bands are kicking butt around here. - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Aug 2003 17:35:57 +0100 From: "Matt H" Subject: Re: seven-seas OT The Sheila Divine I honestly thought you might have left the playground >over Barry's critique of T3.
