If I hadn't just read that people actually holiday in Turkey, I'd completely disbelieve it. Or.... perhaps the date is real in order to catch Turgut in an international piracy scheme :-) as he's probably one of the only ones who'd turn up. Nothing at all is wrong. Most Americans, however, don't think of Turkey as a place to holiday, and that's where the thinking gets different. They think of Turkey as a dangerous place, though anywhere in the world these days can be dangerous. I've a friend in the Air Force deployed to Turkey and everyone worries sick about him. I have a coworker who was arrested for espionage (this person really was a spy) in Turkey when the Russians took over a military base there. So for me, it was truly a revelation that it is a good holidaying spot. We don't get balanced news on things here in the US: we get dumbed down versions: America great, UK okay, Turkey bad. Seriously. It takes looking hard for more international views, or hearing from people overseas, to get rid of the stereotypes we are fed by our media. - --Amy - ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ ====================================== http://www.bunnymenlist.com ====================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Aug 2003 14:49:05 -0700 From: "MCH" Subject: Re: seven-seas OT: Psycho...
